Alice Hatcher on Bouncing Back and Building a Medical Spa Empire

We have all heard the stories of business owners and serial entrepreneurs who live high-flying life— champagne on private jets, endless traveling, and philanthropic work- among many lifestyle trademarks that set the wealthy apart. But what most people do not see is the blood, sweat, and tears that go into building something from the ground up. Such is the story of Alice Hatcher, an entrepreneur and health advocate who has created one of the most prominent medical spa chains in the country.

Alice is the owner and founder of Precision Skin RX, a skincare brand that has skyrocketed in popularity and financial success since its founding in 2015. The company has a line of result-driven and medical-grade skin products that help target and care for various skin types and lifestyles. The entrepreneur is also the owner of an e-commerce website called Beauty Addict, which she opened back in 2010 to serve Americans with online consults for different skin concerns and issues.

But getting to the level she is at today has not always been easy for Alice. She moved from Taipei, Taiwan, when she was only one year old. Her family spoke very little English, which proved to be difficult at a time when there were no ESL classes yet. Alice’s mother worked as a nurse in Minnesota, dealing mostly with grueling night shifts, while her father attended college to become an Engineer. In the beginning, the whole family lived in a tiny one-bedroom apartment above a Chinese restaurant.

On top of dealing with financial woes, Alice also dealt with bullies who discriminated against her for her background, landing on the receiving end of racist remarks and attacks for being the only child of different ethnicity in school. But the time of hardship would become the crucible of Alice’s personal growth as she found ways to get by.

After finishing school, Alice started her first medical spa. But it was 2006, and the country was at the mountain foot of one of the biggest recessions of this generation. The first five years would prove difficult as the young entrepreneur had to work hard to bring clients through the door. “I would go out and solicit people and leave flyers on people’s cars to get them to come into our medical spa,” recalls Alice. “I would sell gift certificates in the parking lots and then take the clients back at the spa and perform the facial. I would also be the acting receptionist and check them out at the desk. I fulfilled many positions to get us through the financial crisis.”

The years of hard work would start paying off eventually as Alice’s ventures started to gain momentum. Then the businesswoman discovered e-commerce, which would turn the tide for her once and for all. A decade later, Alice became debt-free and built multiple brands that served clients from all over the country.

Alice hopes to be a force of inspiration to many women and people from minority groups, showing that it is possible to conquer hardships no matter how daunting. She hopes to be the voice of motivation she never had when she was starting off, all while taking her brands to the next level of business growth.
