His family tree includes Richard Henry Lee, John Augustine Washington, Bushrod Washington, and George Washington. Craig began his academic journey at UC Berkeley, where he majored in History and developed a deep interest in the institutions that shape society. He later earned his law degree at Pepperdine University School of Law, where his leadership skills came into sharp focus. He was elected president of both the Environmental Law Society and the Student Bar Association and was awarded Best Oral Advocate in the Vincent S. Dalsimer Moot Court Competition, judged by former U.S. Attorney General Richard Thornburgh.
Legal Career Rooted in Purpose
Craig launched his legal career at the Montgomery Street firm of Arnold Laub in San Francisco, where he gained early exposure to high-level personal injury litigation. Just doors down from legal icon Melvin Belli, Craig absorbed what it takes to advocate effectively in high-pressure environments. It was here that he confirmed a key insight: legal knowledge matters, but so does emotional readiness and strategic thinking.
In 1996, he joined forces with Christopher Alan Price, his Pepperdine classmate and longtime friend. After passing the California Bar on their first attempts and gaining experience in different regions of the state, they co-founded Ashton & Price, LLP. Their goal was to create a client-first personal injury firm focused on direct access, streamlined support, and reliable legal outcomes.

From the beginning, Ashton & Price emphasized attorney access and client care. There are no automated phone trees—clients speak directly with attorneys for all critical decisions. Personal Discipline as a Professional Advantage
Craig’s discipline extends well beyond legal work. He has completed five Ironman Triathlons, numerous Alcatraz swims, and the California International Marathon. This training has refined his ability to remain steady during legal turbulence—an essential trait in high-stakes negotiations and litigation.

Craig is the co-host of The All Things Legal Show, a weekly program that explores legal issues in clear, accessible terms. His voice is familiar to audiences across California, as the show is broadcast widely and also available on Apple Podcasts.
He has also served as a legal analyst for major networks including ABC, CBS, and FOX, where his commentary provides practical insights for public audiences. He created “Law-ly-wood,” a segment that breaks down legal principles behind popular media portrayals, making legal concepts more engaging and understandable.
