Entrepreneurship has the power to transform lives and communities, but unfortunately, not everyone has the same access to opportunities and resources. Many underrepresented and marginalized groups face unique barriers to starting and growing their own businesses. However, by providing these communities with the right tools and support, we can help level the playing field and create a more inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Nigora(khon) Sadikova is a highly accomplished and experienced professional in the field of international trade and digital business. After earning a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, Nigora went on to work at the World Bank Group, where she contributed her expertise in regulatory impact analysis and digital trade development to the Digital Trade Team.

“Coming from the developing country Uzbekistan, I have directly worked on the development of the entrepreneurship environment in the country. While directly interacting with socially underrepresented and marginalized communities, I have seen that if we create opportunities and teach basic entrepreneurship skills to them, we can have the potential to change the life of those people dramatically,” she shared. “The expansion of export markets and products as well as the reduction of trade expenses are two important economic advantages of engaging in digital trade. The use of digital trade as a strategy for inclusion has also been successful. It enables minority- and small-owned enterprises to interact with customers directly, without the need for expensive itermediaries.”

With over 12 years of experience in this field, Nigora has now founded her own online platform, Bridge To Trade Inc., which aims to provide digital trade solutions to Small & Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), minority-owned businesses, and other artisanal businesses in the United States. Through this platform, these companies can access international markets and simplify the often complex and confusing process of exporting and importing goods and services.

Bridge To Trade Inc. offers a range of services to its target audience, including guidance on navigating international markets, assistance with export/import contracts, and compliance support for digital trade activities. The platform also aims to help SMEs and minority-owned businesses overcome some of the common barriers to exporting, such as lack of trained staff, difficulty with compliance, and payment processing issues.

“Our main strategy will be placing emphasis on service and support, and our main tactics are networking expertise, systems training, and implementing a customer relationship management system (CRM) from e-automate,” Nigora stated. “Our second strategy is emphasizing  relationships. The tactics are marketing the company (instead of the products), more regular contact with the customer, and increasing sales per customer,” she added.

During Nigora’s studies at the University of Chicago, she and her classmates developed initial version of Bridge To Trade Inc. an social enterprise project aimed at connecting underdeveloped communities to entrepreneurship and e-commerce through digital trade. This project was selected by the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) and the Social New Venture Challenge (SNVC) for its potential to alleviate poverty and promote economic development.

Overall, Nigora Sadikova is well-equipped with a deep understanding of international trade and digital business. She has also been recognized for her dedication to social innovation and change. Through her work with Bridge To Trade Inc., she is helping small and medium-sized businesses access new markets and succeed in the global economy.
