Some stories inspire.
Some stories break your heart.
And some stories stay with you long after you’ve finished reading because they remind you what it means to be human.
Jacqueline Durand’s story is one of them.
When Got R Factor: Words of Wounds Turned to Wisdom is released this September, readers will encounter a collection of voices united by a common thread: resilience. Each contributing author explores a different pillar of overcoming adversity, offering deeply personal insights into healing, growth, and transformation.
Among them is Jacqueline Durand, whose chapter on Endurance delivers one of the book’s most profound messages: resilience is not about never falling. It is about finding the courage to keep moving forward, even when the path ahead seems impossible.
Many people first learned Jacqueline’s name through headlines. What those headlines could never fully capture, however, was the journey that followed.
The real story began after the surgeries.
After the recovery process.
After the public attention faded.
It began with learning how to rebuild a life forever changed by trauma.
It began with navigating PTSD, anxiety, emotional healing, and the countless challenges that accompany life-altering experiences.
Most importantly, it began with endurance.
For Jacqueline, participating in Got R Factor was about more than sharing her own story. It was an opportunity to stand alongside other individuals who had transformed hardship into purpose.
“I felt like this was an opportunity to not just share my story and what I advocate for because of my trauma, but to share it alongside more than ten other authors who are sharing their stories as well,” she says.
That collective spirit is one of the anthology’s greatest strengths.
Each contributor offers a unique perspective on resilience. Together, their stories create a powerful portrait of perseverance that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
Jacqueline believes readers will connect with her chapter not because they have experienced the same circumstances, but because everyone understands struggle.
“My chapter focuses on endurance through trauma, PTSD, anxiety, surgeries, mental health challenges, and recovery,” she explains. “What I think readers will relate to most is finding the strength to keep moving through whatever hardship life places in front of them.”
It is a lesson that feels especially relevant today.
In a world that often celebrates strength while overlooking vulnerability, Jacqueline offers a refreshing and deeply honest perspective.
“I want people to know that it’s okay not to feel strong every day,” she says. “My chapter is about endurance and strength, but I am also the first to admit that it took, and still takes, allowing myself to be vulnerable. There are days when I need support. There are days when I don’t feel okay. Vulnerability is strength.”
That message sits at the heart of Got R Factor.
Resilience is not perfection.
Resilience is not pretending everything is fine.
Resilience is allowing yourself to feel, heal, and continue moving forward despite the challenges you face.
Jacqueline’s willingness to share both her victories and her struggles has made her a source of encouragement for countless people around the world.
Through social media, she regularly connects with individuals who reach out to discuss their own experiences with trauma, grief, recovery, and personal hardship. Some are fellow dog attack survivors. Others are simply people searching for hope during difficult seasons of life.
Many find comfort in her honesty.
Those connections have also led Jacqueline to become involved with organizations dedicated to healing and recovery, including the Radiant Resilience Retreat, founded by women who have experienced similar trauma. Through these relationships, she has become part of a growing community focused on helping others rediscover confidence, self-worth, and hope.
Yet perhaps the most remarkable chapter of her healing journey comes in the form of a four-legged companion named Luna.
Luna, a two-and-a-half-year-old Mini Australian Shepherd, is more than a beloved pet. She is Jacqueline’s service dog, trusted companion, and an essential part of her daily life.
To hear Jacqueline speak about Luna is to understand the extraordinary bond that can exist between humans and animals.
“Luna recognizes my emotions before I fully process them myself,” Jacqueline says. “She does things I never trained her to do. She’ll hug me. She’ll run to me if I cough or sneeze because she wants to make sure I’m okay.”
Luna has even learned to retrieve anxiety medication when Jacqueline senses an anxiety or panic attack approaching.
The irony is not lost on her.
The trauma that nearly claimed her life involved dogs.
One of the greatest sources of healing in her life would later come from one.
“The same species nearly ended my life and later saved me in more ways than I ever realized I needed saving,” she reflects.
Her perspective on animals is both heartfelt and profound.
“Dogs give unconditional love,” she says. “They can’t speak, but they show up for us in ways that are difficult to describe. They are loyal, comforting, and present. There is something incredibly powerful about that kind of connection.”
As readers move through the pages of Got R Factor, they will encounter stories rooted in resourcefulness, emotional regulation, spirituality, intention, love, identity, esteem, nobility, courage, endurance, and creativity.
What unites every chapter is the understanding that resilience is not reserved for extraordinary people.
It belongs to all of us.
That is what excites Jacqueline most about the book’s release.
More than publicity, recognition, or sales, she is looking forward to hearing how readers connect with the stories.
“I am most excited to hear feedback from readers,” she says. “I hope they can find their own sense of resilience in their lives, the way I have and the way the other authors have.”
Perhaps that is the true power of this anthology.
It does not ask readers to admire resilience from a distance.
It invites them to recognize it within themselves.
For Jacqueline, endurance has become a way of viewing life.
When challenges feel overwhelming, she reflects on where she began and how far she has come.
She describes life as a track filled with twists, turns, obstacles, setbacks, victories, and growth. There is no perfectly straight path. There is no guarantee of smooth terrain.
There is only the decision to keep moving forward.
“What endurance has taught me is that life is not one straight line,” she says. “There are twists and turns. There are good moments and difficult moments. Looking back at where I started reminds me how much strength I have built along the way.”
That perspective has shaped how she measures success.
Not by the finish line.
Not by perfection.
But by progress.
“The greatest reward is looking back and realizing everything you went through,” she says. “Understanding how strong you were to get through something that once felt impossible. The little victories along the way matter, too. If you only focus on the ending, you miss so much of what you’ve accomplished.”
In many ways, that philosophy captures the spirit of Got R Factor.
This is not a book about extraordinary people living extraordinary lives.
It is a book about ordinary people who faced extraordinary challenges and chose not to give up.
It is a collection of stories about courage, healing, perseverance, and hope.
It is about transforming wounds into wisdom.
And it is a reminder that resilience is not something possessed by a select few.
It is something that exists within each of us, waiting to be discovered.
This September, readers will have the opportunity to experience those lessons firsthand.
Some books entertain.
Some books inform.
The most meaningful books accompany us through life’s most difficult seasons and leave us stronger than they found us.
Got R Factor: Words of Wounds Turned to Wisdom is poised to be one of those books.
And Jacqueline Durand’s story is a powerful reminder that even after life’s darkest moments, hope remains.
Not because the journey becomes easy.
But because the human spirit is stronger than we often realize.
