Scott Waldman founded R&B Roofing and Remodeling in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2009 when he was semi-retired. What began as a favor soon became a passion as he discovered that he and his team members were changing lives.

“That’s what’s fascinating,” Waldman says. “When I put a roof on a house or remodel a kitchen, basement, or bathroom, or even change the windows, I can see the excitement on the homeowners’ faces.”

With high interest rates and a challenging housing market, Waldman finds homeowners are looking inward rather than outward, choosing to remodel rather than move.

“They love their neighborhood and location, so why not turn their existing house into their dream home? That’s what R&B does. We take people’s dreams and make them a reality.”

R&B Roofing and Remodeling offers lifetime warranties on its work, instilling confidence in clients, and that helped growth.

“We are a full-service remodeling company and the largest remodeler in Kentucky. We gained entry into this field because we did an exceptional job with roofing,” Waldman says. “As a result, clients approached us and asked if we could handle other services like siding, windows, bathrooms, and kitchens. Once we built a customer base that respected our timely delivery, fair pricing, and top-notch quality, it became easier to offer additional services. Our satisfied clients also referred us to others, which helped us grow.”

The company serves Kentuckiana, a location covering the metropolitan area of Louisville, and extending into neighboring states of Illinois and Indiana. But that’s just the start.

“We recently opened an office in Buffalo, New York, and we have acquired a company in Pittsburgh. We are currently in the process of closing another deal, which will allow us to establish offices in Denver, Sacramento, Portland, Salt Lake City, Omaha, Billings, and Minneapolis.”

Waldman credits much of his success to his cadre of 400 team members who complete the whole project without having to outsource work to subcontractors for different aspects of the job.

“That leads to finger-pointing and issues because each contractor blames the other for problems. In contrast, we take full responsibility for the entire project. We handle everything, ensure timely delivery, provide transparent pricing, and deliver exceptional results. We aim to be efficient and hassle-free.”

R&B has brought new products to this market, everything from vinyl to the most difficult composites from Hardie to Celect to Wolf products.

“We’re certified, and all of our people are trained by the manufacturers to give clients the best products and services and warranties in the business,” Waldman says.

R&B not only helps clients but also the planet as well. Many people think of construction as being wasteful with materials, but Waldman says he uses sustainable methods that no one else does.

“We have our own metal machines that shoot the metal shingles off. So when we do a metal roof, we don’t buy the premade panels, we actually shoot them off a little roll right at the job site. So there’s no waste.”

R&B Roofing and Remodeling has a division specifically for bathroom remodeling called Got2BeBaths, which aligns with its brand Got to Be R&B.

Got to Be Baths can completely transform an entire bathroom in one work day. This includes removing the old fixtures, installing a new tub, shower, and all new fixtures.

“This is an impressive turnaround time that we aim to maintain consistently,” Waldman says. “If the items they choose are in stock, the installation can be scheduled for the following week. However, if they need to order something special, it would take an additional week for installation. So, the entire process, from signing the agreement to installation, can take anywhere from one to two weeks.”

After 15 years in this business, Waldman is still pleased with the impact R&B Roofing and Remodeling has on people.

“When I put a roof on a house or remodel a kitchen, basement, bathroom, or even change the windows, I can see the excitement on the homeowners’ faces. It doesn’t matter if it’s a $100,000 house or a $5 million one. It has a profound impact on their lives, their families, their relatives, and everyone who visits them. It transforms the environment by fixing and improving something.”

Waldman and his team members are making the world a better place, one home (or business) at a time.
