Ava N. Simmons isn’t your average 11-year-old. Hailing from North Carolina, Ava is a toy designer, entrepreneur, and author whose S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) toys are now featured in retailers across the United States. With her company, Team Genius Squad, she is making significant strides in promoting S.T.E.M. education among children, empowering them to explore science in fun and engaging ways.

This summer, Ava is embarking on a 15-city tour to celebrate and promote the inclusion of her S.T.E.M. toys in Whole Foods Market stores nationwide for the back-to-school season. Accompanied by her mother, Tita Simmons, Ava will travel across the country to personally demonstrate her S.T.E.M. experiment kits, which teach children how to generate electricity from food, wind, and the sun in just minutes. Ava’s journey into the world of S.T.E.M. started after her diagnosis of dyslexia in 2021. Instead of seeing her diagnosis as a setback, Ava embraced her differences as her superpower. She poured her energy into her passion for S.T.E.M., leading to the development of 16 S.T.E.M. toys and authoring three books. Her perseverance and success have earned her recognition, with titles such as “Ava the S.T.E.M. Princess®” and “Ava the S.T.E.M. Ambassador™.”

Earlier this year, Ava was featured on the Drew Barrymore Show, where she showcased her S.T.E.M. experiment with Drew and Ross, receiving widespread acclaim for her efforts in promoting S.T.E.M. education. Ava’s mission is to break down barriers for other children and inspire them to see their potential through the lens of S.T.E.M.

“Becoming involved in S.T.E.M. helped me boost my confidence and overcome the learning limitations others placed on me,” said Ava. “I want to give kids like me the opportunity to overcome limitations others may put on them, too, by exposing them to S.T.E.M. I hope that through S.T.E.M., they will also begin to recognize their superpowers.”

Throughout her tour, Ava will donate autographed copies of her book, “Ava Discovers Her Inner Genius using S.T.E.M.,” to communities, sharing her story and educational journey. The self-authored book provides a candid account of her experiences with dyslexia and dysgraphia, the bullying she faced in school, and her path to becoming a successful youth entrepreneur. “I want to ensure that I share my story with the world and encourage others never to let their challenges or circumstances define their success or future,” Ava emphasized.

The tour will also be documented on social media, allowing followers to join Ava on her 15-city journey during July and August. Through her platforms, she aims to inspire other young minds and advocate for the inclusion of neurodivergent individuals in S.T.E.M. fields. By sharing her own experiences and success, Ava hopes to create a ripple effect, motivating children nationwide to pursue their interests in science and overcome any obstacles they might face.

In addition to her media appearances and book signings, Ava’s hands-on demonstrations of her S.T.E.M. experiment kits will serve as the highlight of each tour stop. These kits, which make complex scientific concepts accessible and fun, showcase the practical applications of S.T.E.M. learning. From generating electricity using common household items to harnessing the power of renewable energy sources, Ava’s kits are designed to ignite curiosity and foster a love for science in young learners.

Tour stops will include Whole Foods Market stores in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. For exact tour dates and locations, please visit: https://www.jotform.com/app/TeamGeniusSquad/team-genius-squad/page/20
