How the Japan IDPA Award Began
Established in Tokyo, Japan in 2018, the Japan IDPA AWARD (International Design Pioneer Award) was jointly founded by the CEIDA Central European International Design Association, CIID88 China International Interior Design Network, and Atelier Tenma Co., Ltd. Japan, together with Japanese architectural and interior design organizations, leading design institutions, and distinguished Japanese designers and industry professionals. Since its inception, the award has sought to identify and recognize some of the world’s most innovative architects, designers, and creative firms, while promoting global design culture, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Why Wanfang Long Earned Recognition
Among this year’s Global Top 10 Finalists is Wanfang Long, whose visionary work and growing international recognition earned her selection as one of the Top 10 Most Influential Designers. Her inclusion among this group reflects both her innovative design approach and her expanding influence within the international architecture and design industry.
The IDPA Japan committee recognized Long for her project, the Boston Performance Center, an architectural concept designed to reshape Boston’s urban and cultural identity through inventive spatial thinking and contemporary design strategies. Naoki Iijima: Founder of Naoki Iijima Design Office and one of Japan’s most influential interior designers. Former leader of the Japan Commercial Environmental Design Association (JCD) and professor at Kogakuin University. He worked on landmark projects including MUJI Aoyama, Shiseido 5S New York, PMO Office Buildings, and numerous high-profile commercial interiors that helped shape modern Japanese spatial design.
