American Restaurateur Andrew Molen, is currently preparing his family’s inspired Californian & Mexican Cookbook. This sacred sought after book titled Samalitas will feature over 50 unique recipes originally prepared by his ancestors which have been passed down from years of home gatherings and meals. This food and preparation began from the last land grant from the King of Spain to Andrew’s family, issued in Northern California over 170 years ago. Molen’s inspiration for the release of his unique cookbook, is in alignment with his love for the American culinary industry. On the horizon, Andrew is excited to share his delicious dishes and variations behind his family’s culinary dominant legacy, one recipe at a time.
Through The Years
Andrew Molen’s mother, Sandra “Sam” Arcara, built a recipe inspired restaurant named Samalitas which served meals directly from the rich Samalita Molen family Cookbook. Missing her “native” food, the restaurant’s legacy began in the early 90’s catering to New Yorkers on the upper Eastside. The restaurant’s concept was inspired by the generational cooking secrets of the Molen family. During its tenure, the restaurant quickly grew in popularity, becoming a popular destination offering inspired Californian cuisine with a Mexican twist. Samalitas grew from a tiny taqueria with a burrito bar, to an upscale dining experience with fine wines. This unique concept served food in a warm California inspired setting, and soon became the talk of the town. Soon the restaurant began attracting serious neighborhood diners wanting a special cuisine and drink, while also socially mingling with celebrities from Sandra’s earlier years in the film industry.
