Over the weekend, Lastique played at her first tennis tournament back at Star Island in Kissimmee, Florida. This USTA tournament would earn her some new national points to support her draw placement in the Pro-Circuit for 2023’s calendar. 

Whilst making it to the finals, Lastique surprised her opponent and the tournament director by gathering her belongings mid-match and walking off the court stating “ I’m out “.

Lastique was up (4-2) in the first set but was visibly annoyed by her opponents antics during the match. 

When later asked what happened, Lastique claims her opponent “was being weird”. Her reasoning was her opponent making bad calls and having an outrageous attitude following by saying she’s never experienced anyone like that before. 

Lastique later admits she should have stuck it out and mentally pushed past it but at the time her only focus was her mental health and it wasn’t worth it for her to remain in the match.
