For decades, Cassandra Crawley Mayo climbed the corporate ladder with unshakable drive. She became the first Black woman in every leadership role she held at a Fortune 500 company, breaking barriers and building a legacy of excellence. Yet even with her success, there came a moment she could no longer ignore: the relentless pace, perfectionism, and pressure had left her burned out and disconnected from herself.
That reckoning brought one defining question to the surface: “Is my way in my way?”
The Turning Point
Mayo explains, “I had to face the truth that the very habits that fueled my success were also keeping me from peace and fulfillment. I was achieving, but I wasn’t aligned.”
That question became the catalyst for her personal transformation, ultimately inspiring her #1 bestselling book Is Your Way In Your Way?, her acclaimed podcast Is Your Way In Your Way?, and her signature system The R.I.S.E. Journey™. Today, she is a bestselling author, podcast host, speaker, and mentor whose mission is to help women live boldly aligned with God’s vision for their lives.
Mayo explains, “I do this work because too many women are living beneath their potential, weighed down by expectations and self-doubt. Transformation doesn’t come from pushing harder, it comes from stepping into who you were always meant to be.”
The Shift to Rise Beyond Limits™
Her own pivot wasn’t instantaneous. After leaving corporate America, Mayo recalls wrestling with what success would mean outside of the structures she had always known. Without the title or the corner office, who was she?
Mayo explains, “I realized I had spent years performing, meeting expectations, and chasing definitions of success that weren’t truly mine. The moment I began to ask different questions was the moment I began to feel free.”
That shift became the foundation of Rise Beyond Limits™, a six-step faith-rooted method she created to help women dismantle limiting beliefs and rise into clarity and courage. The framework—Recognize, Interrupt, Surrender, Embrace, Build, Launch—offers structure for what Mayo herself had lived through: the messy, powerful process of letting go of old patterns and aligning with a higher calling.
Three Tips to Begin Rising Now
While her coaching programs provide a deeper transformation, Mayo believes every woman can start rising today with a few simple but powerful steps. She offers three practices anyone can use to disrupt self-doubt and reclaim clarity:
- Pause and ask, whose version of success am I living?
Many women discover they are chasing someone else’s dream, whether an employer’s expectations, family pressures, or cultural standards. Mayo explains, “When you ask that question, you give yourself permission to redefine success in a way that feels authentic. It’s the first step in shifting from striving to living aligned.” - When you hear the voice of self-doubt, don’t silence it; question it.
Rather than trying to push fear away, Mayo encourages women to confront it. She explains, “Ask: Is this truth, or a limiting belief I’ve been taught to accept? That shift in perspective can take power away from the inner critic and replace it with curiosity, courage, and clarity.” - Write down one area of your life where you’ve been playing small.
For Mayo, action solidifies change. She explains, “Speaking it out loud, writing it down, and then taking even one bold step builds confidence. Every small act of courage becomes evidence that you are capable of more than you believed.”
Mayo explains, “The moment you stop outsourcing your worth and start aligning with your true purpose is the moment everything begins to shift. It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about having the courage to take the first step.”
The Season of Power Pauses
In a time when so many are navigating career transitions, layoffs, and a growing sense of disconnection, Mayo believes these are not just challenges but opportunities. She calls them “power pauses.” Seasons where women can stop, reflect, and choose a different path forward.
Mayo explains, “Burnout and uncertainty don’t have to break you. They can break open the life you were meant to live.”
Her signature program Rise Beyond Limits™, bestselling book, and podcast all carry the message: that freedom, fulfillment, and clarity are not distant goals but choices within reach. By sharing her own story openly, Mayo creates space for other women to see their struggles not as endings, but as invitations to rise stronger.
Her message has reached audiences far beyond her programs. She has been featured on NBC 4 Washington, Great Day Washington (WUSA 9), and the Spotlight Network with Logan Crawford, as well as on international stages, including the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Black Books Matter Fest.
Building a Movement
As founder of CCM Enterprises LLC, the faith-infused personal development company she created, Mayo also delivers keynotes, corporate training, workshops, and ministry events. Whether mentoring one-on-one, leading small groups, or speaking on national and international stages, she brings the same mix of candor, compassion, and conviction. Every platform she touches reinforces her mission: to help women rise beyond limitations and live boldly aligned with their God-given purpose.
Living Boldly Beyond “Shoulds”
Looking back, Mayo sees her pivot as both personal and universal. “So much of my life was shaped by ‘shoulds’, what I thought I had to do, what others expected of me,” she reflects. “The breakthrough came when I realized I didn’t need permission from anyone else to live boldly. I only needed to stop getting in my own way.”
Now, through her faith-infused platform, she gives other women that same permission slip, the one they didn’t know they needed, to live authentically, rise courageously, and embrace the lives they were created for.
