Across many parts of the world, conversations around feminine health are often limited and avoided. This leads to misinformation, which further perpetuates the use and sale of toxic and harmful menstrual care products. The ingredients they contain could affect long-term health.
Melesia Adderley, founder of Women’s Haven®, has made it her mission not only to educate women and girls about menstrual health but also to provide organic feminine care products.
Founded in 2017, Women’s Haven® has grown into one of the most recognized Caribbean-owned organic feminine care brands in the region. The company now operates across more than 12 Caribbean countries and has products placed in over 90 retail stores, including pharmacies and supermarkets. The brand also serves customers online in the USA, UK, and Panama through its official website and Amazon USA.
The Growing Demand for Safer Feminine Care Products
Awareness around feminine hygiene ingredients has increased in recent years. Many consumers now pay closer attention to the materials used in pads, tampons, and other intimate care products. Discussions surrounding concerns about chemicals and compounds found in some conventional feminine hygiene products have increased. While the topic does remain taboo in many places, more women are seeking organic and transparent alternatives.
In the Caribbean, access to these products was limited for many years. Imported organic brands were expensive, difficult to find, or unavailable in smaller island markets. Melesia Adderley saw this firsthand. She believed Caribbean women deserved better access to feminine care products made with safer materials and clearer product information.
That idea became the foundation of Women’s Haven®. The company focused on education from the beginning and encouraged women to ask questions about the products they use every month.
Women’s Haven® also addressed another issue that is often overlooked in business conversations: regional accessibility. Building a Caribbean-wide distribution system is far more difficult than operating in one large country. Logistics, customs regulations, shipping costs, and inventory management vary from island to island. Despite these challenges, the company expanded steadily across the region.
How Melesia Adderley Built Women’s Haven®
Melesia Adderley left corporate leadership in 2017 to pursue entrepreneurship full-time. She founded Women’s Haven® in the Cayman Islands and later expanded into other Caribbean territories with the support of distributors and business partners across the region.
Her background in leadership and organizational learning played a major role. She managed operations, branding, supply chains, retail partnerships, trademarks, and expansion planning while growing the business.
Today, Women’s Haven® has a team of 14 women across the Caribbean, the USA, and the UK. The company has sold more than three million products and donated over 500,000 units to schools and nonprofit organizations throughout the region.
The company has also secured trademarks across multiple countries and product categories. Its expansion into Panama also reflects a growing presence beyond the Caribbean market. At the same time, the brand has maintained its Caribbean identity instead of rebranding itself for overseas audiences. The company continues to emphasize that its products were created by Caribbean women who understood the challenges Caribbean women faced.
Melesia Adderley has described the mission clearly: “When you educate a woman…you empower a nation.”
