In 2010, a card collection called The Rare Pepes hit the digital world long before non-fungible tokens even became a thing. So as soon as the meme-based frog character reached the NFT network, it became a massive hit. The team behind the famed Rare Pepe NFT collection, devs Jason Rosenstein and Joseph Fiscella with artist KT Shiba, looks to follow up that win with a new NFT offer known as Space Shibas.
“Before the Acronym NFT was colloquialized into mainstream vernacular, Finest Rares saw the value of this unique cryptographic potential,” shares the artist behind these two collections on the official site. “As an avant-garde leader in the space, Finest realized that the ability to create digital scarcity through the wonders of the blockchain was the future.” Thus, the digital artist known as Finest, creator of Rare Pepes, would become a groundbreaking creator in the NFT space by being one of the first crypto artists. Now, the limited edition of 20 artworks is worth millions.
Today, non-fungible token advocates and avid investors will be happy to know that Finest is back with a new collection that looks to push the limits of NFT collectibles to the next level. His new project is Space Shibas, a collection of 2-D pixel art dog characters with unique personalities and characteristics. There are 10,000 mints available for this collection, all up for grabs on the blockchain network. The NFT has a gamified approach to it as it will give holders exactly one $SPACEBONE unit per day, which they will have to “feed” to the Shiba the same way one would feed a Tamagotchi pet.
After a given period, the leadership team of Space Shiba will select twenty-five holders to become the Decentralized Autonomous Organization, or DAO, for the blockchain-based NFT community. The DAO will act as the governing body for Space Shiba and call many of the ecosystem’s shots. Avid investors will have the chance to pick up as many as 10 Shiba units at a time.
Cryptocurrency and NFT enthusiasts will remember how one of the Rare Pepes breached the 149.99 ETH price point, making one piece of the collection worth up to $500,000 on the market. By releasing another collection, Finest and the team behind the NFT unicorn looks to duplicate that effort and win with the release of Space Shibas.
On October 31, 2021, FinestRares.com released Free Shiba trading cards to Space Shiba owners, marking the first giveaway to the Space Shiba community. By November 31, which is when the team hopes to mint out all available Space Shibas, holders will begin accruing $SPACEBONES, which they will have to feed to their NFT characters by the time December 31 comes around.
One of the more unique aspects of the Space Shiba collection is its creative commons license, which gives its holders more freedom to do what they please to their NFTs. The team hopes that by assigning a DAO, the Space Shiba trading game will continue for many years to come.
