After acquiring the necessary 218 members for a majority, the Republican party won over the House of Representatives.
With this latest event, separate political parties will command the US Congress’ Upper and Lower Houses. Having won the crucial Nevada state, the Democratic Party already holds the majority in the Senate. Political experts assert that because the opposing party won the Lower House, Biden will find it more difficult to enact his agenda. The GOP, which is in the majority, will dictate the pace of consideration of any proposed reforms.
Previously, the Democratic Party held a slim majority in both Houses. This aided Biden in promoting his policies and securing the passage of legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act. However, an opposition party controls one of the Houses of Congress. Biden will therefore encounter more resistance.
“They will no longer be able to do that because to move through the budget process; you need support within. Essentially among your party, Republicans and Democrats would not agree to move in such sweeping legislation like that,” said an expert.

A Republican win, Pelosi reacts
When officials announced the GOP’s victory over the House of Representatives, a Nancy Pelosi aide stated the speaker would discuss her plans.
“The Speaker plans to address her future plans tomorrow to her colleagues. So stay tuned,” her aide said.
But Pelosi put out a statement ahead of schedule:
“This year, House Democrats defied expectations with an excellent performance: running their races with courage, optimism and determination. In the next Congress, House Democrats will continue to play a leading role in supporting President Biden’s agenda — with strong leverage over a scant Republican majority.
“House Democrats are thrilled to have so many terrific new and returning Members to the House, who will reinvigorate our Caucus with their energy, diversity and patriotism. We salute our departing Members for their magnificent leadership, achieving landmark progress on health care, climate action, infrastructure, gun violence, veterans and more that can never be diminished. At least three critical states are still counting ballots. We are endlessly grateful to those who continue their patriotic work to ensure each vote is counted as cast.”

What the GOP intends to do
The GOP’s strategy and plan will advance thanks to the success in the Lower House. The Republican Party will be able to win over a lot of votes with the help of this effective apparatus. The GOP will focus on developing policies in the two years running up to the 2024 elections since the next presidential race draws closer.
The GOP now has an edge in organizing committees, which it will use to tarnish Biden’s reputation and the Democratic Party. These bodies will permit investigations into the Biden administration.
Biden can still veto Lower House legislation under the separation of powers. That has a few disadvantages, though. The parties’ agenda-setting strategies will determine how things go. However, if Biden inadvertently vetoes GOP laws that favor the nation, he would face public outrage, spoiling the Democratic Party’s hopes of winning the 2024 presidential election.
