Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be playing a major role in the latest DC blockbuster movie, “Black Adam.” The teaser for the highly anticipated film was just released, and fans could not wait for more details.
The fans were blown away by a 2-minute clip that showed The Rock as the villain in this story. He has godlike powers, and debates sparked about Johnson’s real nature as he is ambiguously presented in the teaser.
The trailer for “Black Adam” features an appearance from Pierce Brosnan, who plays Dr. Fate and says that his character has a connection to Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam in terms of moral dilemmas he will face during the film. In a voiceover, Dr. Fate tells Black Adam, “You have two choices. You can be the destroyer of this world, or you can be its savior.”
Jaume Collet-Serra has taken on the task of director for this new film featuring the 5,000-year-old ancient warrior reborn in the modern world. With his ability to fly and superhuman strength, he can punch through hard objects, lift immense loads, and withstand any kind of impact.
The video gives us an insight into the life of an ancient warrior, detailing how he was once a slave and spent five millennia trapped in a tomb.
The film is star-studded. Aside from Johnson, the teaser has also revealed some cast, including Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and Quintessa Swindell.
“Your unwavering support and relentless excitement for this passion project of mine has meant the world to me. Now it’s my turn to deliver for you. The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is changing,” Johnson wrote on Instagram to thank his supporters for the hype.
Johnson’s role in the movie is a prequel to DC Comics’ plot, which pairs him against their protagonist Shazam played by Zachary Levi.
“As a kid, Superman was the hero I always wanted to be. But, a few years into my fantasy, I realized that Superman was the hero I could never be. I was too rebellious. Too rambunctious. Too resistant to convention and authority,” explained Johnson in his Instagram post.
Black Adam is “blessed by magic with the powers equal to Superman, but the difference is he doesn’t toe the mark or walk the line. He’s a rebellious, one of a kind superhero who’ll always do what’s right for the people — but he does it his way,” Johnson says.
Black Adam will hit the cinemas on October 21.
