The production team behind Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever anticipates a strong weekend premiere, as it remembers the late Boseman.
Analysts predict the film will gross more than $185 million in domestic ticket sales, above its initial projection. Furthermore, analysts expect that the Black Panther sequel will gross more than $200 million. The plot follows a new Black Panther, this time in the form of T’Challa’s younger sister, Shuri.
Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa in the first Black Panther film, died of colon cancer. As a result, the 2018 film took long enough to complete the sequel to the first film. However, the original film’s popularity is only one of the reasons the sequel is predicted to be a box-office success. It is also because it honors Boseman, a figure beloved by fans both on and off the screen.
Furthermore, the anticipated strong sales of the film could help theater operators affected by the pandemic. For example, the world’s largest movie theater operator, AMC Entertainment, posted another round of losses this quarter.
″‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is opening under extraordinary circumstances amidst a wave of goodwill and an outpouring of support for the work and legacy of Chadwick Boseman and the indelible mark he made in the title role in the original film that was a billion-dollar global hit,” said Paul Dergarabedian, an analyst at Comscore.

In honor of Black Panther
Boseman’s death devastated many. And now, as a film honoring his on-screen memories nears completion, the anticipation is palpable. The great anticipation from Marvel fans might propel the weekend launch of Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick” to record-breaking sales.
The Multiverse of Madness maintains its lead regarding the highest sales in 2022. When it first premiered in May this year, it grossed more than $187 million in domestic ticket sales. “Jurassic World: Dominion” ($145 million), “Thor: Love and Thunder” ($144 million), “The Batman” ($134 million), and “Top Gun: Maverick” ($126 million) are among the other box office smash.
Analysts estimate that the Black Panther film will top the 2022 movie sales and take the top place for the greatest domestic ticket sales in November. “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is presently the highest-grossing film, with $153 million in total sales since its release in 2013.

A huge step in representing the Black community
Analysts and theater managers surmise that Hispanic and African-American moviegoers would throng to the movies this weekend. The original Black Panther film acquired popularity owing to its predominantly Black cast. This helped the film’s success since it reflected the Black American community. “Wakanda Forever,” like “Black Panther,” will have a primarily Black cast.
“I think that what we’re going to see out of this film is that well over the indexing of the African American representation of consumers, and then over-indexing of Hispanic consumers into this,” said the National Association of Theatre Owners chairman, Rolando Rodriguez.
