Big Cat Habitat is an ever-growing large-animal facility located in eastern Sarasota County. Founded in 1987 by Kay Rosaire, the nonprofit sanctuary is a permanent home for over 300 exotic animals.  

Situated in Sarasota, Florida, the sanctuary spans over 40 acres of lush landscape, providing ample space for its diverse array of rescued animals to roam and thrive. The sanctuary is home to three hundred animals and sixty-two species, from majestic lions and tigers to playful lemurs and exotic birds.

The Big Cat Habitat has long been revered and recognized for its dedication to rescuing and rehabilitating exotic animals. Recently, their outstanding work caught the attention of American Dream Television host Joanna Petriccione, who turned her national attention and her camera lens to this remarkable wildlife preserve. 

Joanna spotlighted the sanctuary as one of her favorite animal rescues in the nation, and for good reason; this is a magical sanctuary that abandoned exotic animals call home thanks to the owner Kay Rosaire and her talented son Clayton.

One of the most touching things about the sanctuary was their love and respect for our country’s veterans.   Offering a free admission for our veterans all year long. Unheard of in this day and age.
