Living in a society with technology and social media front and center has its own advantages and disadvantages. While the pace at which we advance as a people has never been faster, this also draws focus on how we can only absorb so much. With a never-ending influx of information and several forms of entertainment just within our fingertips, a collective decline in productivity has become more apparent. To battle the widespread struggles, Sarad Dhungel has designed a game-changing app for everyone leveraging technology and ancient wisdom called StretchYo to enhance personal development and cultivate healthy habits.
“The app’s name is a play on words,” Sarad explains, since the goal of StretchYo is to force its users to stretch out of their comfort zones in order to create healthier lifestyles and habits. It has four elements that are focused on different aspects of breaking away from distraction. “We live in an easily distracted world because of technology. So to combat that, we’ve engineered a technological solution, as well.” With StretchYo installed in phones, protecting against disruptive applications, people are able to cultivate productivity when using gadgets instead of getting sidetracked by them.
Coming with a To-Do list feature, StretchYo helps its users prioritize their tasks within the day and stick to them. “Setting them as your goals as the day begins really gives you clarity,” Sarad said. The app allows users to set three or more goals in their To-Do List. Apart from that, it also comes with a reminder system, making sure you are alerted throughout the day and prompted to remember the tasks you have yet to complete.
“Our app also comes with a Pomodoro feature,” Sarad adds. This feature comes with a built-in timer that is set to get users working for 25 minutes straight while taking five-minute breaks in between. “Along with the Pomodoro’s timer, we play music that helps users in the zone.” This technique aims to aid in building the user’s habits, as they’re encouraged to get into a flow of state that has them conditioned to work on their tasks for certain consistent amounts of time. Just as Sarad says, there is a science behind building habits, and that is the potential that StretchYo aims to tap into. “Once you’re able to do something for more than 21 days, it turns into a habit. With StretchYo, we’re able to help its users throughout the journey by consistently building that habitual process.”
In addition to this, another impressive aspect of the app is how it’s geared to introduce these incremental changes into its user’s daily routines. Also, it includes a feature that allows users to share their progress and journey with friends. “Inviting friends throughout their journey allows users to have accountability partners, and it also lets them undergo the challenges with someone else by their side,” Sarad shares.
In addition to their extensive array of features, Sarad also unveiled the app’s latest enhancement: a breathing timer. “We have now added a breathing timer on our app with various types of exercises designed to help users relax, beat anxiety, and achieve a state of equanimity. This new feature aligns perfectly with the app’s broader mission of not just improving productivity but also paving the way towards the wellness frontier,” Sarad explains.
Launched in December 2022, StretchYo has a few more interesting features that are yet to see the light of day. “I’m looking to add in aspects that help with deep relaxation, such as built-in music for users looking to take a recharging nap,”power nap etc Sarad shares.” Also, we are working with industry experts to include AI powered features, recommendation models and community features. These are designed to help people meet where they are on their habit journey and also bring like-minded individuals together through community features, allowing them to collaborate, share tips, and offer support, thereby making the journey towards productivity and wellness a collective effort.”
His excitement to share StretchYo with the community can’t be overstated, as he’s worked on his app for more than a year, spending time to first understand the ins and outs of the market before trying to find a creative solution to address its gaps. This dedication reflects not only his passion but also his unwavering commitment to creating a product that will truly benefit users. With StretchYo, he aims to revolutionize the way people approach personal development, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their experience level.
“Supporting personal development and growth is the heart of StretchYo,” Sarad states. “I’m hoping that once the app is launched, people will learn that changing their habits can be fun. Especially with the support of an app like ours.”
With such imaginative solutions like StretchYo on the landscape to combat the decline of productivity, building healthy habits in this day and age of fast-paced development will no longer have to feel like such an insurmountable task.
